Kurt Meyers
Deputy General Counsel Equitable
Kurt Meyers is Deputy General Counsel and a member of the Operating Committee. Mr. Meyers’ responsibilities for the Law Department include direct oversight of the litigation, insurance products and employment law practice groups, as well as its operations.
Prior to joining Equitable, Mr. Meyers was a partner at McGuireWoods LLP, where he focused on high-stakes civil, regulatory and criminal matters.
Mr. Meyers previously served as the Criminal Chief for the United States Department of Justice in the Western District of North Carolina, where he oversaw 50 federal prosecutors and staff and all federal criminal investigations, litigation and trial work. Before joining the DOJ, he was a litigation associate at WilmerHale and served as a law clerk for a federal judge in Massachusetts and at the Kentucky Supreme Court.
Mr. Meyers has a bachelor’s degree from Franklin & Marshall College, a master’s degree in philosophy (specializing in ethics) from the University of Arizona and is a cum laude graduate of Harvard Law School. He is a fellow in the invitation-only International Academy of Trial Lawyers. In 2018, The National Law Journal recognized him as one of 25 nationwide “White Collar Trailblazers” in its White Collar, Regulatory & Compliance Trailblazers issue.
